How to set up a My Business Account with CRA

Before you get started you will need the following information:

1. Social Insurance Number
2. Date of Birth
3. Amounts from your most recently filed personal tax return.
4. Your 9-Digit Business Number
5. Photo ID: Canadian Drivers License, Canadian Passport or Your Provincial or Territorial Photo ID card.

Follow the steps below to register a My Business Account with Canada Revenue Agency.

1. To get started, go to canada.ca/my-cra-business-account and select Option 2 – “CRA register”.
2. Under “I want to Register” select “My Business Account”
3. Choose from the following options. “Register with Sign-in Partner” or “Register with a CRA user ID and password.
   – To register with sign-in partner you will need an account with one of their listed banks. With this option you log in using your banking log in information which seems to be an easier option for people to remember. The instructions in this tutorial may differ slightly when choosing Sign-In partner option but it may still be self-explanatory.
   – To register with a CRA user ID and password, you will need to create a new username and password including a variety of security questions.
4. To validate your identity, enter your social insurance number.
5. Next, enter your postal code or zip code, date of birth, and an amount you entered
   on one of your income tax and benefit returns from the current tax year, or the previous one.
6. Then select a delivery method for a CRA security code, which is required to gain full access
   to My Business Account.
7. Depending on the delivery method you have chosen, you will be asked to confirm your
   current postal code or zip code, or enter your email address.
8. The next step will be to create a CRA user ID and password.
9. Then, select and answer five security questions.
10. Review and agree to the terms and conditions of use by entering your password and
    selecting “I agree”.
11. If you have chosen to have a CRA security code issued via email, you will now be asked to contact CRA.
12. Registration is now complete until you receive your code.
13. Once you do, log in and enter it. Review and agree to the My Business Account terms
    and conditions of use. Then provide your Business number.
14. After you have logged in contact Making Your Miles Count to receive our
    business number so you can give level 2 authorization.
